Hi, my name is Gabby. As a military dependent in Germany we had to wait to get our car drivers license until 17 but we could get our license to ride mopeds at 16 (1982). First you had to pass a very hard license test thought. I bought my german cousins 50 cc little moped that had a broken kick start. Always had to push start that sucker but I rode. I forgot to mention that he modified it so it went way faster then it should have gone. Fast forward about 8-9 years we were back in the states and I rode a dirt bike around my dad’s farm and didn’t ride again until 2010. My boyfriend rode bikes and I loved riding with him but wanted my own. So we bought me a 1995 HD Sportster 1200 cc to get my feet wet. Went and got my permit and wanted to go to the church lot to practice. The boyfriend knew better and said I could do it. Like riding a bike....right? So I leave the driveway in my riding gear, wide right turn onto the road, down the ditch across the street and started coming back out of the ditch but laid it down. Boyfriend was speechless in the driveway where I just left him 5 seconds earlier, I am standing next to my running bike that is now in the grass. He runs over, picks it up and promptly agrees with me that I better go to the lot to practice. No damage to the bike or me. A couple months later after riding around I take the safety class, pass and get my license. The following year in 2011 I traded the Sportster in for a 2002 Dyna Lowrider. I loved that bike but I had already bought it with high miles so in 2013 I asked a friend to test ride his brand new Street Glide. After 1 lap around the church lot I was sold. So, during the Harley Rally in 2013 I traded the Lowrider in for my now bike 2008 Street Glide. I love my bike. Sadly July 29th, 2014 I injured my right hand, after over a year of sugeries (10) and many hours of occupational therapy in 2015 I was able to ride again. Haven’t ridden as much as before the injury but next year is a new beginning to log miles again. I currently live in Wind Lake, Wisconsin with my boyfriend (the guy that knows everything), my daughter that is moving into her own house soon, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 1 indoor rabbit and 6 chickens. I love to feel the wind in my face, the freedom riding gives me, going on rides with my boyfriend and the people/friends I have met along the way. So this is the story of a small portion of my life. Hope to meet you out in the wind some day.
